Jane C. Goble, 94 , Olathe, formerly of Topeka, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2013. She was born September 30, 1919 in Independence, KS, to Edward and Laura Bell Cowles.
She had resided at Pinnacle Ridge Rehab. & Nursing Home in Olathe since February, 2013. Prior to that, she resided at Aldersgate Village in Topeka.
Jane lived in Topeka for 66 years. She was married to Robert V. Goble at Mathers AFB in Sacramento, CA in 1942. He passed away in 1979. Jane and Bob had four children; Susan, Kathy, Becky and Rob. Jane attended Independence Junior College. She moved to Topeka in 1939 to attend Washburn University and became a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
Jane was an Executive secretary prior to the birth of her children. After her children were grown, she worked for Menningers, Slemmons Architects and Kansas Power & Light. She was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening, attending church and was a member of several bridge clubs. She was also a member of P.E.O.; and book club, She had served as a volunteer for Stormont-Vail Hospital Auxiliary and had also been a volunteer at the Kansas Historical Museum. She had enjoyed reading to the children at Aldersgate's onsite child care center, Forever Friends Intergenerational Center.
Jane and Bob were one of six couples that were founding members of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Topeka. Jane had served as an Elder at the church and was a member of several church groups. She has been a lifelong member and requested that her Memorial service he held there.
Jane was also preceded in death by four sisters and one brother. Survivors include daughters, Susan (Richard) McKown, Kathy Duvenci, Becky (Allen) Switzer; son, Rob (Kristi) Goble; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
