Jan M. Degan, 51, of Topeka, passed away Monday, April 4, 2011.
She was born February 29, 1960 in K. C., KS, the daughter of David and Elizabeth (Wiltfong) Maude. She was employed by Zercher Photo in Topeka. She was a volunteer for Light of the World Prison Ministry.
She was a member of Light of the World Family Christian Center and Honorary Citizen of Boys Town.
Jan married Frank L. Degan on July 4, 1978 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Janet Marie Degan and Kristy Degan-Mestas and her husband, Benjamin; a brother, John R. Maude; her mother, Elizabeth Wiltfong; her "adopted brother", Joseph Thompson, all of Topeka; her "adopted parents", Roger and Alice Hufford, K.C., KS; and her "adopted sisters", Joann Cable of Mississippi and Joleen Green of Topeka. She was preceded in death by a child.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2011 at the Rochester Cemetery, Topeka. The family will receive friends from Noon to 1 p.m., Friday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Memorial contributions may be made to Jan M.
