James Thomas "Jimmie" Bramlett, Jr.
James Thomas "Jimmie" Bramlett, Jr., 92, Topeka, died Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at Midland Hospice House. He was born September 13, 1923, at Cushing, Oklahoma, the son of Eva A. (Corley) and James Bramlett, Sr.
In 1941, Jimmie graduated from Central High School, Muskogee, Oklahoma. During World War II he served as a medic in the U.S. Navy's South Pacific Theatre. He attended the University of Texas (Austin) and the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. Jimmie was a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. He worked in funeral homes in Muskogee and Tulsa and he and his wife had operated the Chaney Funeral Home in McAlister, Oklahoma. He later worked as a casket sales representative working for the Rex-Metallic, National, and Batesville Casket Companies. In September, 1986, he and his wife, Wilma, retired to Springfield, Missouri.
Jimmie was a member of Faith Lutheran Church; Capitol Post # 1, of the American Legion; and Philip Billard Post # 1650, V.F.W.
On January 19, 1947, Jimmie was married to Wilma Beatrice Iler at Dallas, Texas. She preceded him in death on July 3, 1987. After Wilma's death he moved to Topeka in 1989.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM, Monday, February 1, 2016, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka. Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at Green Hill Cemetery, Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Jimmie will lie in state from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Sunday at the funeral chapel.
