James Pulliam

James E. Pulliam was born June 29, 1937 on his grandparents farm near Dwight, Kansas in Morris County. Jim grew up in Topeka, graduating from Topeka High School. He was a graduate of Phillips University, Enid, Oklahoma and received his M.Div., Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, Evanston, Illinois. He died Thursday, December 30th, at his home in Topeka.
Jim was an Episcopal Priest in Kansas and Nebraska for several years. He
was a Social Worker III, Kansas State Department of Social and
Rehabilitation Services, Ottawa. He retired from the Kansas Youth Center at
Topeka in 1996, working as a checker at Dillons Grocery Store until January
2000.
Jim made new friends wherever he was and retained many long term
relationships throughout his life. His very dear friend, Ian, will be
forever touched by the loving, caring and unselfish life that Jim led.
Jim is preceded in death by his sister, Judy Joines, and by his parents,
Jack and Dorothy Pulliam. He is survived by his sister, Jackie Statman of
San Diego, nephews David Statman and Ken Joines, niece Susan Piotrowski and closest friend Ian Leach.
A private memorial service will be held at the Grace Episcopal Cathedral.
A private interment service will follow.
