James Lee Kendall "Jim," 77, of Topeka, died Wed., Feb. 4, 2009 at Midland Hospice surrounded by his family.
He was born Dec. 2, 1931 in Coffeyville, KS, the son of Charles and Julia Mae (Johnson) Kendall. He had been a cement finisher for Bob Reisinger Const., Graybeal Const., Inc., and Wagner Mudjacking of Topeka. He married Elizabeth Frankenbery in 1957 and later divorced. To this union he had 3 daughters. He married Patsy M. Johnson in Sep., 1980.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Patsy, his two daughters, Jacque (John) Bekavac of Plano and Angela D. Kendall of Topeka, three step-children, Kenneth B. (Susan) Johnson of Overbrook, Randall E. (Gail) Johnson of Baldwin City, and Brenda J. (Bill) Wettengel of Perry, his sister, Elsie L. Bauer of Raleigh, NC, 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Jim is preceded in death by both parents, his former wife, Elizabeth Kendall, and his daughter, Marita L. Kendall.
Jim will lie in state after 4:00 pm, with visitation to follow from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Friday, Feb. 6th, at Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7th, 10:00 am, at Penwell Gabel Parker Price Chapel. Pastor Tommy Scott will officiate. Interment will follow at Rochester Cemetery.
