James Hendrix, Jr.

James Hendrix, Jr., 82, Ozawkie, died Mon., July 6, 2009, at his home. He was born Jan. 1, 1927, in Saline County. He managed the Quality Oil Station at North Kansas and Lyman for 35 years. He was married to Gertrude McMahon, who preceded him in death. He was married to Betty Stevenson, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by children: Don Hendrix, Robert Hendrix, and Ethel Hendrix. Surviving are a son: Jerry Hendrix of Topeka; a daughter: Mary Hoffman of Topeka; 3 step-daughters: Sheryl Bieker of Scranton, Betty Saylors of Brighton, TN, and Virginia McCall of WaKeeney; a sister: Ethel Fuller of Durant, OK; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 PM, Wed., July 8, 2009, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka, followed by memorial services at 2:30 PM. Private interment of cremains will be in Rochester Cemetery.
