James W. Greeson
James W. Greeson, 72, Topeka, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born Feb. 18, 1931, in Albuquerque, N.M., the son of Alvin O. and Electa (Westfall) Greeson. He lived in Cottonwood and Mesa, Ariz., for 14 years before moving back to Topeka three years ago. Mr. Greeson worked as a general foreman for the Santa Fe Railway from Feb. 6, 1951, to Aug. 1, 1986, retiring after 35 years of service. He and his wife owned and operated Greeson's Greenhouse in Topeka for 14 years. He married Verna M. Harrold on Jan. 19, 1951, in Lawrence. She died Dec. 8, 2002. Survivors are a daughter, Pamela Rees, Lecompton; four sons, James Steven Greeson, Mesa, Ariz., David Greeson and Karl Greeson, both of Topeka, and John Greeson, Gardner; a brother, Alvin O. Greeson II, Topeka; a sister, Helen Grant, Messena, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel.
