James D. "J.D." Inman, 77, of Topeka, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014. He was born April 9, 1936 in Nixa, MO, the son of Louis and Ava Bolin Inman.
J.D. moved to Topeka in 1964 to open up the territory for his Pepperidge Farm franchise in northeast Kansas. In 1994, he purchased Capital City Pallet.
J.D. married Margaret Griffin on April 15, 1955 in Kansas City, MO. She survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Leah (Mike) Oswald of Iola, KS, Denise (Bruce) Winsor of Topeka, Tracy (Tim) Inman-Cox of Fort Worth, TX, Linda (Chuck) Inman-Gunter of Hoyt, KS, thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and his three siblings, Wanda Sanders and Larry Inman, both of DeSoto, KS and Rick Inman of Vero Beach, FL. J.D. was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave. Cremation will follow the service and private inurnment will take place at a later date. J.D. will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
