As a child he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gathering endless fruits for his mother to can. Jim later enjoyed gardening, working with his hands and fixing things. He and a group of friends built homes for each other. Even though he claims he was not a finish man, he had an endless range of skills for building or repairing anything.
