James J. "Jake" Bowser, 77, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at his home. He was born March 4, 1940 in Topeka, the son of George and Marguerite (Kull) Bowser.
Jake graduated from Seaman High School. He was employed by Morris Research Center and later Hills Pet Products for over 40 years. He was a member of Northern Hills Baptist Church, a charter member of First Santa Fe Trail in Overbrook and the Capital City Gun Club.
Jake married Carrie J. Ostrander on April 30, 1960 at Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include their children Byron and James Bowser of Topeka, one granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth Bowser of Denver, Colorado, his brother, Robert (Shirley) Bowser of Meriden and his brother-in-law, John Kessinger of Topeka.
Jake was preceded by his siblings, George Bowser Jr., Irene (Alvin) Gandy Gean Kessinger and John Bowser.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Northern Hills Baptist Church where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Half Day Cemetery.
