OBITUARY: James R. "Jim" Atwood
James R. "Jim" Atwood, 67, Topeka, died Fri., July 13, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital with family by his side. He was born Jan. 20, 1945, in Harveyville, the son of Irvin J. and Lenora M. (Behner) Atwood. Jim and Evelyn have owned Thompson-Crawley Furniture since 1971. Jim married Evelyn I. Kindig on Aug. 21, 1965, in Silver Lake. Surviving are his wife: Evelyn of the home; daughters: Susan Mahoney (Matthew) and Rebecca Bridges (Jason); grandchildren: Joseph Mahoney, Anna Mahoney, Jade Atwood, and Heath Bridges; all of Topeka; a brother: Glenn Atwood (Sharon) of Harveyville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Tues., July 17, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave. Lake Lodge # 50, AF & AM will conduct Masonic services at Auburn Cemetery. Jim will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Mon., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 North Kansas Ave., Topeka, KS 66608.
