James Arol "Jim" Knauber, 83, of Topeka, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013.
He was born August 21, 1929 in Topeka, the son of Arol and Valeria Fern (Smith) Knauber. He was a 1949 graduate of Highland Park High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Knauber was employed by Memorial Hospital until retiring in 1989.
Jim married Helen Lois Bush on November 11, 1960. She preceded him in death on August 24, 2002. Survivors include three children, Dan Quinlan, Perry, Roxanne (Doug) Rosencutter, Topeka and Jerry (Stephanie) Knauber, Overbrook, KS; 10 grandchildren, Rachel (Matt) Bennett, Sarah and Joey Quinlan, Nicole (Jonathan) Born, Ashley and Austin Rosencutter, Jerry Knauber, Jr, and Pamela, Joshua and Tricia Knauber and three great-grandchildren, Thayne and Oliver Bennett and Kimberly Knauber. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Dorothy Colgrove.
Jim was mechanically inclined and enjoyed farming and tinkering with things.
A funeral ceremony will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Interment will follow at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. Jim will lie in state after 3 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice, 3715 SW 29th St, # 100 Topeka, KS 66614.
