Jacqueline Ann (Summerfelt) Miller Ragan, age 91, peacefully went to be with her Lord on August 17, 2021 at her home in Topeka. Jackie was born June 29, 1930 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Clarence Glen and Ernestina Clara (Henschel) Summerfelt. She was one of three children born to this union. Her siblings were Shirleen Stable and Dr. Robert (DeAnne) C. Summerfelt. Jackie married Harry E. Miller January 25, 1947 in Blue Rapids, KS. They had four children; Sharyn Thepot (deceased), Shane A. Miller, California, Chris E. (Liz) Miller of Topeka, and Connie L. (Andy) Sanchez of Topeka. After 25 years of marriage, they divorced. Jackie married Daniel E. Ragan February 6, 1992 in Oskaloosa, KS. They shared many memorable adventures together.
Survivors include 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She always remembered each of their birthdays, sending love and kisses. Jackie lived in Topeka for over 70 years. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1971 and attended Washburn University. She was a real estate agent for three years with Ken Buetel. Jackie and her daughter owned an antique business, “The Mothball,” in Lawrence for 10 years. She learned to ski when she was 50 years old and saw many popular slopes. She also wrote several short stories about her life as a child in Chicago, IL. In 2014, Jackie became interested in watercolor painting and became an accomplished artist, “Watercolor by gg.” She loved to sew, decorate, garden and bird watching. She was an avid fan of the KC Royals, Chiefs football and KU Basketball. She always voted. Jackie was a regular on social media, first texting, then advanced to Facebook, then Instagram. She enjoyed following people’s lives and appreciated her fellow artists. Above all, she loved her family. Jackie was an active and devoted member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. She read her bible daily and found great peace in her relationship with her Lord.
Funeral services will be Monday, August 23, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Topeka. Visitation will be one hour before, from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m., also at the church. Interment will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home. davidsonfuneral.com
