Jacob Alfred "Al" Lower
Jacob Alfred "Al" Lower, 91, Topeka, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at an Overbrook nursing home. He was born Aug. 10, 1912, in Fontana, the son of Alfred Baxter and Rose Richart Lower. Mr. Lower was a printer for Adams Business Forms for 44 years, retiring in 1974. He was well-known in the Topeka bowling community. He was a member of the Topeka Bowling Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Orient Lodge no. 51, A.F.&A.M. and Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies and the Arab Shrine Temple. He married Lillie B. Fox on May 3, 1961. She survives, of the home. Survivors include a son, Chuck Lower, Topeka; two daughters, Janice Buckley, Chicago, and Carolyn Worthey, Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Rosetta Brown, Ottawa; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Penwell Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery. Masonic graveside services will be conducted by Orient Lodge No. 51, A.F.&A.M. Mr. Lower will lie in state after 3 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence Ave., where family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Al Lower Scholarship Fund at Meadow Lanes Bowling Center, 3118 S.
