Jack Mahana, 78, Silver Lake, passed away Sun., Dec. 28, 2008, at Midland Hospice House.
He was born June 8, 1930, to Jack Finley and Velma Sue (Smith) Mahana in Lampasas, TX. He served in the US Navy on the USS LSMR 512 Amphibius Group as a Gunners Mate.
He was a painter and a lifetime member of Local #96, a lifetime member of the Capital City Gun Club, and an active member of the NRA for many years.
He married Bonnie (Jaton) Wolf on May 9, 1963, in Millard, NE. They have one son Kelly (Toni) of Silver Lake. He has 4 sons by a previous marriage: Frank (Kathy) of Columbus, GA, Mark of Biggs, OK, John (Pam) and Jim of El Dorado Springs, MO. Stepchildren: Randy Wolf (Joann) of Silver Lake, Dave Wolf (Tammy) and Rhonda Skow (Phil) of Topeka; 2 sisters: Eva Louise Kattner of Copperas Cove, TX and Wynell Achord of Killeen, TX; 15 grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Marshall Mahana.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Wed., Dec. 31, 2008, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. A US Navy detail will conduct military honors at Silver Lake Cemetery. Jack will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Tues., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
