J. Glen Shogren
J. Glen Shogren, 81, Topeka, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, in Tampa, Fla. He was born July 5, 1922, in Lindsborg, the son of Howard and Bernice Linderholm Shogren. Mr. Shogren worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for more than 40 years. At the time of his retirement, he was an office manager in the traffic department. He served during World War II and during the Korean conflict. He was a member of Post No. 400 of the American Legion and the Lake Perry Country Club. He married Darline E. Steinle on Oct. 13, 1950, in Russell. Survivors include his wife, Darline E. Shogren, Topeka; a daughter, Mona Rae Sartell, Tarpon Springs, Fla.; a grandson, Ray Sartell; three brothers, Harlan Shogren, Lindsborg, Merle Shogren, Manhattan, and Orin Shogren, Salina; and three sisters, Martha Lee Gillihan and Arcel Ireland, both of Denver, and Marian Richardson, Lindsborg. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery wit h military honors conducted by Post No. 400 of the American Legion. Mr. Shogren will lie in state after 3 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in North Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Moffitt Foundation, P.O.
