F. Irene Mohney, 85, of Topeka, passed away Monday, Feb. 12, 2007 at a local hospital.
She was born Nov. 20, 1921, the daughter of Charles Ray and Florence E. Kesselring Knight.
She graduated from Topeka High School. She worked for USD 501 in the Food Service Dept. for many years, retiring as Manager at French Middle School. She was a longtime member of Oakland United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed working with ceramics and made porcelain dolls.
She and and her husband, Merrill "Bill" were lifelong residents of Topeka and married for over sixty four years. He survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Karen (Marvin) Dunlap of Lexington, KY; two sons, Bill (Bevie) Mohney of Jerusalem, Israel and Richard (Ann Leeman) Mohney; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchilden. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Mohney will lie in state after 3:00 pm, Wednesday, Feb. 14 at Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW. Independence, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 pm that evening. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, Feb. 15 at the funeral chapel with burial to follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
