Ione M. Owens

Ione M. Owens, age 86, of Topeka, passed peacefully with her family near her side Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at her home in Topeka.  Ione was born February 9, 1935 in San Mateo, California, the oldest born to Fae and Mertice (Bauer) Erickson.  Ione worked as a parent coordinator for Head Start Learning Center for over 23 years.  She was also the co-owner of Del’s Country.   She was a member of the Oakland Christian Church for over 30 years and later Oakland Presbyterian Church.  She married Wayne Adams, they later divorced.  She married Delmon Owens February 12, 1966.  He preceded her in death April 18, 1993.

She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Dustin Adams and Delmon Humbert; a granddaughter, Angela Willis; and one great grandson, Trenton Jones.  Ione is survived by three sons, Ricky Adams, Keith Adams and Michael Owens; six daughters, Joyce Rutschmann, Sherry Culbertson, Peggy Humbert, Brenda Owens, Lynnette Owens and Deann Owens; four sisters, Dona Lee Cook, Cynthia McDowell, Thelma Sausa and Fern “Candy” Quichoch; 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 3, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.  Services will be live-streamed at the Davidson Funeral Home & Cremation Services Facebook page.  Private inurnment will be at Keene Cemetery at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Davidson Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.  www.davidsonfuneral.com
