Ina Mae Nason, age 94, of Wakarusa passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Salem Nursing Home in Hillsboro, KS. Ina Mae was born July 30, 1922 in Topeka the daughter of Leslie and Ethel Cook Phillips. She graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1939. She married Robert M. Nason April 9, 1942 in Topeka. He preceded her in death June 7, 2009 after 67 years of marriage. Ina Mae worked in food service as the baker for the Washburn Rural School District in Topeka. Ina Mae was an active member of the Wakarusa Presbyterian Church. Her and Bob owned and operated a grade A dairy farm in Wakarusa for many years. She was a project leader for the Wakarusa Valley 4H Club for over 42 years. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Club. She also enjoyed volunteering for the Topeka Public Library where her and Bob delivered books to the local nursing homes.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Don Phillips, Edward Phillips, Naomi Fawl and Almeda Rogge. She is survived by two sons, Lonny (Lorna) Nason of Ft. Bragg, CA, Randall (Peggy) Nason of Oklahoma City, OK; two daughters, Diana Byrd of Castle Rock, CO and Raelene (Allen) Makovec of Newton; 17 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Wakarusa Presbyterian Church. She will lie in state Thursday from noon – 8:30 p.m. with visitation from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery in the Menoken Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wakarusa Presbyterian Church or to any local 4H Club and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home. davidsonfuneral.com.
