OBITUARY: Ida Viola Anderson
Mrs. Ida Viola Anderson, 102, Tecumseh, died Tues., April 29, 2008, at Lexington Park. She was born Sept. 29, 1905, at Reno in Leavenworth Co., the daughter of Lewis D. and Ida M. (Hicks) Hodson.
She graduated from Lakeview Grade School and Lawrence High School. She received a teaching certificate from Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia. She taught school at Crowder Grade School in Douglas County. Ida was a former member of the Tecumseh Grange and the Social Service Club of Tecumseh. She was a former 4-H Leader and a member of the Red Hat Society.
Ida was married to Paul A. Anderson on May 29, 1940, at Perry. He preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 1995. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Donavon Anderson; her parents; 4 brothers: Louis, Amos, Clarence, and Ormal Hodson; and a sister: Phoebe Rogers.
Surviving are a daughter: Wanda M. Kinney (Darrel) of Carbondale; a son: Edward "Wayne" Anderson (JoAnn) of Tecumseh; 4 granddaughters: Brenda Hogan, Lisa Nichols, Lana Meyer, and Lori Meiers; 7 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 AM, Sat., May 3, 2008, at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Big Springs. Ida will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Fri., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
