Ida Morris

Ida M. Morris, age 82, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Stormont Vail Hospital.  Ida was born July 16, 1938 in Texola, Oklahoma the daughter of Clark and Bonnie (Bessinger) Deaton.  She married Thomas F. Morris, Jr. July 28, 1963 in Bone Gap, Illinois.  He preceded her in death May 29, 2012.  She worked in food service at the V.A. Medical Center in Topeka for over 15 years.  Ida was active in many churches she attended, spending time cooking for church activities or wherever called.  She enjoyed bowling, working in her flower garden alongside Tom, and most importantly, spending time with her family.  Ida was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Deaton; a sister, Nancy Deaton and a great granddaughter, Leslie Morris.  She is survived by two sons, Richard (Pam) Morris and Michael (Trish) Morris, both of Topeka; two brothers, Jim Deaton of Pierce City, MO and Bennie Deaton of Satanta, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Wesley, Stuart, Kenton, Larinn, Meagan, Courtney and Lyndsey and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.  She will lie in state Tuesday from noon – 5:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.  Private family interment will be at the West Lawn Memorial Gardens.  Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Faith Children’s Home and left in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be streamed live on Davidson Funeral Home & Cremation Service’s Facebook page.  davidsonfuneral.com.
