Ida Marie Zimmerman
Ida Marie Zimmerman, 82, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010 surrounded by family who dearly loved her.
She was born March 26, 1928 in Graham County, KS, the daughter of Frank and Katie (Scheck) Wittman.
She was employed by Wonder Bread Company in Topeka, retiring in 1993.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Church.
Ida married Michael John Zimmerman, Jr., on October 25, 1948 in Park, KS. He preceded her in death on October 6, 2008. Survivors include her children, Larry Zimmerman, Yvonne Halbett, Anita Talley, Katrina Kosmala, Robert Zimmerman and Michelle Lindensmith, all of Topeka; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents and 13 siblings.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Monday, November 29, 2010 at St. Joseph's Church, 227 SW Van Buren, Topeka. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Topeka. Mrs. Zimmerman will lie in state after 1 p.m., Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS, where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. The family will receive friends following the rosary Sunday at the funeral home. Because of Ida's love for animals, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 NW Rochester Rd, Topeka, KS 66617.
