Ida M. Grimes, 87, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2010.
She was born June 11, 1923, in Topeka, the daughter of David Otto and Sadie M. (Pendleton) Sieg.
She was a retired employee of the state of Kansas.
She was an active member of Faith Family Life Centre.
Ida married Sam A. Grimes on January 11, 1941, in Topeka. He preceded her in death in November 1991. Survivors include a daughter, Betty M. Boaz, (Scip), Topeka and a son, Bill Grimes, (Judith), State Center, IA; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lela Abel; and two brothers, Bob Sieg and Bill Grimes.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Interment will follow at Rochester Cemetery, Topeka. Mrs. Grimes will lie in state after 3 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Family Life Centre, 3710 NW Topeka Blvd, Topeka, KS 66617 or to the Iowa River Hospice, PO Box 1086, Marshalltown IA 50158.
