OBITUARY: Horace Gordon "Bud" Brown
Horace Gordon "Bud" Brown, 68, Silver Lake died Fri., Dec. 9, 2005, at Colmery-O'Neil V.A.M.C. He was born Aug 16, 1937, at Franklin, TN the son of James and Mary L. (Huffman) Brown.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1968. He was an insurance agent for Old American Insurance Company. He was a member of Wamego Lodge # 75, A.F. & A.M.; Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies; Arab Shrine Temple; Arab Shrine Transportation Unit; and the American Legion.
Surviving are his wife: Mary Elizabeth (Shafer) Brown of the home; 2 sons: Daniel Gordon Brown of Topeka and Michael Ray Brown of Mississippi; a daughter: Theresa Lynn Kinsley of Topeka; 2 brothers: Sandy Walker Cox and Marvin Cox both of Franklin, TN; 2 sisters: Marie Sullivan of Nashville, TN and Virginia Brown of Franklin, TN; 3 granddaughters; and 1 great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m., Tues., Dec. 13, 2005 at Prairie Home Cemetery, N.W. 35th & Menoken Rd., Topeka. Masonic services will be conducted by Wamego Lodge # 75, A.F. & A.M. and Golden Rule Lodge # 90, A.F. & A.M. Military honors will be conducted by a Fort Riley U.S. Army Detail.
Bud will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Monday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence, Topeka where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday.
