Henry Philip McGilton, 90, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020.
He was born December 28, 1929, in Stewartsville, Ohio, the son of Arthur and Lydia McGilton.
Henry (Mac) joined the Air Force at the age of 17 and was trained in mechanical and electrical systems.
He was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber for 44 years before retiring, and was a member of the United Rubber Workers of America.
In 1949, he married Melba L. Woodward in Topeka. To this union was born Kathy (Clyde) Holscher, Joy McGilton, Marie McGilton, and Larry McGilton.
Survivors include his daughters, Kathy, Joy, and daughter-in-law Sue McGilton; his grandchildren; Brian Holscher (Mandy Hutchinson), Amy Hugo (Aaron), Justin McGilton (Kassie), Megan McGilton, Mindy Turner (Scott); great-grandchildren; Thomas Holscher, Emilee Holscher, Evan McGilton, Hadley Hugo, Marcus Annette, Hudson Hugo, Colton Turner, Ryder McGilton, Aadeyn Dunmire, Kenna Turner, and Jaxon McGilton. Henry is also survived by seven sisters and two brothers.
He was preceded in death by his wife Melba, son Larry, and infant daughter Marie.
In 1992, he married Peggy Rayls in Topeka. She preceded him in death in 2017.
Also surviving are children by this union; Jo Lorson (Bill), Paula Bond, Jon Rayls (Judy) and his grandchildren; Zachary Spielman, Quincy Vega (Jeremy), Graham Bond, Cooper Lorson, Chelsea Lorson, and Russell Lorson; and Silas Vega.
Henry was a very creative and talented man. He enjoyed water skiing, bowling, traveling, playing cards, and hosting pool parties. He was the #1 fan of all of his children's activities, traveling everywhere to watch them compete and participate. Later he would enjoy being the #1 fan for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His greatest joy was his love for his family and friends.
A visitation will be held at Parker-Price Funeral Home on Monday, May 11, 2020 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. A private service and interment will follow at Eskridge Cemetery, Eskridge, Kansas.
