OBITUARY: Helen Trix Daugherty

Helen T. Daugherty, 98, Topeka, died Thurs., Feb. 22, 2007, at McCrite Plaza. She was born at Chilhowee, MO, on May 29, 1908, the oldest of 13 children born to George R. and Nellie Mae (Sprinkles) McGinnis. She moved to Topeka in 1955. She attended Chilhowee, MO schools. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, and the K.C. Royals.

Helen was married to Clarence E. Daughtery on Sept. 8, 1927, at Warrensburg, MO. He preceded her in death in 1961. She was also preceded in death by 2 sons: James R. Daugherty in 2005, and Arley D. Daughtery in 2004.

Survivors include a daughter: Helen "Irene" McDonald of Topeka; 2 sons: Philip E. Daughtery and Paul E. Daugherty both of Topeka; 4 sisters: Lois, Josephine, Eva, and Pat; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 PM Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Committal services will be private. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:00 PM Friday at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Rescue Mission, POB # 8350, Topeka, KS 66608-0350.
