OBITUARY: Mrs. Helen Irene Sturm
Mrs. Helen Irene Sturm, 87, Topeka died Tues., Aug. 2, 2005 at St. Francis Health Center. She was born Nov. 21, 1917 at Valley Falls the daughter of H. Lester and Ruth I. (Kelley) Lewis.
She graduated from Valley Falls High School. She worked at Lott's Variety Store in Valley Falls. In Topeka she worked at the Ben Franklin Store; Morrell's Packing Plant; Fred Tickner Grocery Store for 19 years; and in Dr. Shirley Clark's office for 9 years. Helen belonged to Senior Citizen Group # 5 in Topeka for a number of years.
She was married to Charles E. Sturm on July 19, 1938 at St. Joseph, MO. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1988. She was also preceded in death by a son, Harvey LeRoy Sturm.
Surviving are a grandson: Rhett Anthony Sturm; and adopted granddaughter, Teri Lea Craft; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Aug. 5, 2005 at Valley Falls Cemetery. Mrs. Sturm will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence, North Topeka where the family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
