Helen Barnard

Helen Lewis Barnard, 95, Topeka, passed away Feb. 15, 2010 in Lawrence. She was born Dec. 25, 1914 in Emporia with her twin sister Ellen, the daughter of Albert E. and Ollie Vina Lewis. Helen graduated from Emporia High School in 1934. She married O.L. Barney Barnard Nov. 17, 1935 in Emporia. He preceded her in death June 14, 1978. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Dixie Ludwig, Mar. 6, 2006. Mrs. Barnard is survived by a daughter, Berniece Zirnstein (Fred), Mammoth Springs, AK; a son, Gary Barnard (Phyllis), Lawrence; 4 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Fri., Feb. 19, 2010 at Prairie Home Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart of America Hospice, 1420 Wakarusa, Suite 202 Lawrence, KS 66049.
