OBITUARY: Mrs. Hazel E . Burgen
Mrs. Hazel E. Burgen, 90, Topeka died Thurs., Aug. 11, 2005. She was born on June 27, 1915 in Keokuk, Iowa to David and May Stadley. She moved to Topeka at age 7 and resided there the rest of her life.
She worked at Kresge's, Hall Lithographing, and the State Printer. She was a member of North Topeka Wesleyan Church.
Hazel was married to Kenneth W. Burgen on Jan. 18, 1932. He preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1965. She was also preceded in death by a grandson and 2 great-grandsons.
She is survived by 4 Sons: Kenneth L., Topeka, Jerry L., Lawrence, Nelson L., Topeka, and William L., Madera, CA; 1 Daughter, Lodema L. Betsworth, Chandler, AZ, 15 Grandchildren, 29 Great-Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, Aug. 15, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, North Topeka. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Hazel will lie in state after 12:00 noon Sunday at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday.
