Harry Albert Shubkagel
Harry Albert Shubkagel, 85, Topeka, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka. He was born March 26, 1919, in Vermillion, to John A. and Lida Ewing Shubkagel. Mr. Shubkagel graduated from Hoyt High School in 1938. He served in central Europe and the Aleutian Islands in the Army during World War II. He was a mechanic for Vic Yarrington Oldsmobile for 38 years. Mr. Shubkagel was a member of the Elmont United Methodist Church. He married Thelma M. Ausherman on June 2,1945, in Hattiesburg, Miss. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, June Glasgow, Topeka; a son, Rex Shubkagel, Topeka; a brother, Ed Shubkagel, San Mateo, Calif.; a sister, Wilma Huff, Independence, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Heidi Glasgow, Topeka, and Isaac Glasgow, Lawrence. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel. Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery in Topeka. Mr. Shubkagel will lie in state after 3 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel P arker-Price Chapel in North Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
