OBITUARY: Harry C. Shay
Harry Cletis Shay, 82, Topeka, died Mon., March 19, 2007, at Stormont-Vail Hospital. He was born Oct. 21, 1924, at Junction City, the son of Harry Frank and Hazel May (Baker) Shay.
Harry served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1947 and was in the Naval Reserve from 1947 to 1955. He was retired from the Xerox Corporation. He was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church; Philip Billard Post # 1650, V.F.W.; and Capitol Post # 1 of the American Legion.
Harry was married to Doris Arlene Rankin on June 4, 1950 at Topeka. She survives of the home.
Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 sons: Doug Shay of Iola and Steve Shay of Topeka; a brother: George Shay of Topeka; 2 sisters: Rose Johnson of Wichita and Eleanor Long of Topeka; 5 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM, Thurs., March 22, 2007, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Military honors will be conducted at Rochester Cemetery.
