Harriet Shove, 82, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Deer Park Care Home, Meriden, KS.
She was born January 26, 1926 in Providence, RI, the daughter of John J. and Harriet (Taylor) Lister. She resided in Providence until she met and married Ralph Q Shove in 1944. She and her husband moved to Havensville, KS where they farmed for two years, relocating to Topeka in 1948. He preceded her in death in September 26, 1996.
She had been employed by Stormont-Vail Hospital and the Methodist Home in Topeka. She was a former member of the Ladies of the Moose, and Order of the Eastern Star in Topeka.
Survivors include her daughter, Janet H. Blanchard (Richard), and John Q. Shove, Shirley E. Moore (Clifford); five grandchildren, Michelle Cody, Jennifer Armstrong, Bryon and Jason Shove, and Damon Moore and seven great-grandchildren, all of Topeka.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka. Interment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery, Topeka. Mrs. Shove will lie in state after 3 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 NW Rochester Rd., Topeka, KS 66617.
