Harold Emmett "Bud" Navarre, Jr., 79, of Topeka died, Monday afternoon, Feb. 14, 2005 at Colmery-O'Neil V.A.M.C., Topeka. He was born Aug. 28, 1925 in North Topeka the son of Harold E. Navarre, Sr. and Catherine Frances (Degand) Navarre.
Bud was graduated from Seaman High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Bud's Café at 910 North Kansas from 1954 to Dec. 31, 1987.
He was a member of Topeka North Post # 400 of the American Legion. He had attended North Topeka Baptist Church and was a former member of Moose Lodge # 555.
Bud was married to Maudie Rosebaugh Coe who preceded him in death. He married Patricia McDaniel Wheeler on May 22, 1980 at Las Vegas, NV. She survives of the home.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Juanita Meiries.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two step-sons and daughters-in-law: Gene and Nancy Wheeler and Wayne and Sandra Wheeler both of Topeka; a stepdaughter: Linda Rothman Meyer of St. Louis, MO; a brother and sister-in-law: Donald L. and Pamela Navarre of Meriden; 6 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Feb. 18, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Military graveside honors will be conducted at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Topeka.
Bud will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday.
