OBITUARY; Harold Bernarr Howell
Harold Bernarr Howell, 82, of Topeka died Wed., Jan. 12, 2005 at his home. He was born Aug. 18, 1922 at Sharon Springs, KS the son of Alexander and Mary (Duphorne) Howell.
He was graduated from high school at Canon City, CO and attended a business college. He served in the U.S.Army from 1942-45. Mr. Howell moved to Topeka in 1948. He worked for the State of Kansas Motor Fuel Tax Dept. for 25 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church, Capitol Post # 1 of the American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans.
Mr. Howell was united in marriage to Velda Arlene Stewart on June 14, 1953 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on Jan. 8, 2000.
Surviving are two daughters: Mary Lynn Rodriguez of Wichita, KS and Cheryl Ann Ramirez of Missoula, MT; 2 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Wed., Jan. 19, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence, Topeka. A Fort Riley U.S. Army Detail will conduct military graveside honors at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka.
Mr. Howell will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
