OBITUARY: Harold Dean Hough
Harold Dean Hough, 88, Topeka, died Wed., Oct. 29, 2008, at Plaza West. He was born April 27, 1920, in Jennings County, IN, the son of Floyd and Lorena (Anderson) Hough. Harold graduated from San Jacinto High School in Jennings County, IN.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from May, 1942 to Dec. 1945, being discharged as a Sergeant. He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. Harold was a member of Grace United Methodist Church; Topeka Lodge # 17, AF & AM; Oskaloosa Chapter # 62, OES; Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies; Capitol Post #1 of the American Legion; and NALC.
Harold married Jean Bailey on Sept. 10, 1944. She preceded him in death in June, 1977. He married Emily M. Stoddard Tucker on March 1, 1982. She survives. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Dickey, in July, 1990; a step-son, Lyle Tucker, in June, 1990 ; a son-in-law, Jim Bowman, in Nov., 2000; and a sister, Ladema Downs in Oct., 2006.
Surviving are his wife: Emily M. Tucker-Hough of Topeka; 2 daughters: Sharon Killam and husband, Ray, of Overland Park and Susan Bowman of Topeka; a son-in-law: Richard Dickey of Topeka; 5 step-children: Leonard Tucker of Gove, Maxine Keaton of Meriden, Scott Tucker of Dighton, Sue Lazarus of Joplin, MO, and Dewey Tucker of Taylor, NE; 2 sisters: Roberta Kinnear of Seymour, IN and Erma Huffman-Rees of Indianapolis, IN; 7 grandchildren; 20 step-grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 8 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Mon., Nov. 3, 2008, at Grace United Methodist Church. A Fort Riley U.S. Army detail will conduct military honors at Mount Hope Cemetery. Topeka Lodge # 17, AF & AM will conduct Masonic services at 5:30 PM, Sun., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka. Harold will lie in state after 1:00 PM, Sun., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:30 PM.
