OBITUARY: Howard Thomas "Tom" Foster
Howard Thomas "Tom" Foster, 83, of Topeka went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Mon., March 12, 2012. Tom was born in Americus, KS, on June 7, 1928, the son of Otto & Elva Foster. Tom was a cement finisher and a self-employed cement contractor for 45 plus years. He was an antique dealer and enjoyed collecting and repairing antique clocks but the most important thing in Tom's life was his personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He married his childhood sweetheart, Francis Marie Manning in Lawrence, KS, on May 11, 1945. She preceded him in death. Tom found love again as he married Betty J. Hinkle in Topeka, on May 2, 1992, she survives in the home. Surviving children: Stephen of Topeka, Gregory of Jacksonville, FL, Nels, Mike, Tina Frye & Mark Hinkle all of Topeka. He was preceded in death by two infant children, Leanna & John. He is survived by 16 grandchildren & 19 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Community Church, 1819 SW 21st, at 10:00 AM, Fri., March 16, 2012 with burial following at Half-Day Cemetery. Tom will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., after 3:00 PM, Thurs., where the family will gather for fellowship and memories from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 North Kansas Ave., Topeka, KS 66608.
