OBITUARY: H. George Dahlstrom II
H. George Dahlstrom, 78, Roeland Park, formerly of Topeka, died Monday morning, June 25, 2007, at Overland Park Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born April 21, 1929, in Topeka, the son of Hugo George and Gunhild Dahlstrom. He graduated from Seaman High School.
George served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a partner in Dahlstrom and Ferrell Construction Company. He was a member of Seaman Congregational United Church of Christ. After retiring George enjoyed traveling and restoring antique automobiles.
He was married to Martha Jane Dister on March 17, 1951, in Topeka. She preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 1987. George married Doris D. Art on Feb. 11, 1989, in Topeka. She survives. He was preceded in death by a son, Arthur C. "Artie" Dahlstrom, on June 11, 2007.
Surviving are his wife: Doris D. Dahlstrom, of the home, Roeland Park; 2 sons: Hugo G. Dahlstrom III of McPherson and Dane A. Dahlstrom of Kansas City; 2 daughters: Lyn R. Klein and Gena K. Brooks both of Topeka; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Thurs., June 28, 2007, at Seaman Congregational United Church of Christ, 2036 NW Taylor, Topeka. Cremation will follow with interment of cremains to be in Rochester Cemetery at a future date. George will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
