OBITUARY: Gwendolyn Ruth McCoid



Gwendolyn Ruth McCoid, 83, passed away on Wed., Aug. 29, 2007, at Plaza West Regional Care Facility. Gwen was born on July 21, 1924, in Silver Lake, the daughter of Reuben and Margaret McCollough McCoid.

She graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1944 and worked in the Stormont-Vail Dietary Department for 24 years. Gwen was a member of Loyal Chapter # 176, OES; Silver Lake United Methodist Church; and Silver Lake Senior Citizens.

Survivors include 2 sisters and brothers-in-law: Marilyn and Don Gray, of Belton, MO and Winifred and Gene Brewster of Silver Lake; her niece-caretaker: Laurie Johnson; 8 other nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and sister, Marjorie Day.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM, Tues., Sept. 4, 2007, at Silver Lake Cemetery. Gwen will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Monday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence where the family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:00 PM.
