Gwendolyn Laverne Kelly (Pat) Billingsley Roberts, passed away at Brighton Gardens in Colorado Spring, CO, passed away, January 18, 2009.
She was born Oct. 22, 1924 in Colorado Springs, CO, to Mary Amelia Hinton Kelly and Vestal W. Kelly. Pat attended school in Colorado Springs, Cannon City and Pueblo where she felt most at home. Graduated at age 17 from Mt. Scholastic School for Girls in Cannon City, CO. She met her future husband, Robert McCormick (Bill) Billingsley in Pueblo. On Feb. 14, 1943, they had their first date. They were married March 20, 1943. They traveled the world with the Air Force until his retirement in 1973 in Topeka. Pat worked in the Insurance industry for 8 years, then Shawnee County Court, Sears and Highland Park Methodist Church, and Town Crier Book Store.
Pat was a member of Helena Chapter of Order 210 of Eastern Star where she received her 50 year pin last October. She was also involved with Girl Scouts, Jobs Daughters, Rainbow Girls, Amaranth, Toltec and Arab Shrine.
She was preceded in death by Robert (Bill) Billingsley, Leonard Billingsley and his wife, Myra Billingsley. She was married to Henry Larry Roberts Nov. 7, 1992. He survives. Other survivors include two daughters, M. Jean Billingsley, Topeka, Karen and husband, Ron Brown, Colorado Springs; grandchildren, Patty and husband, Gregg Young, Joycelyn and husband, Brian Perry, Rebekah Schwant, Ivan and wife, Michelle Dietz, Amber and husband, Charles Payne, and Deborah Robinson and fiancé Allan Willis; and 11great-grandchildren.
She was cremated and memorial services at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Evergreen Hospice of Colorado Springs, CO 80909 or to Helena Chapter 210, Order of the Eastern Star in Topeka.
