Greta "Coleen" Crook
Greta "Coleen" Crook, 83, Topeka, died Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at Midland Hospice House. She was born November 27, 1930, in Topeka, the daughter of Frank Lee and Stella Lucile (Foster) Lutz.
Coleen graduated from Holliday Junior High School in 1945, an began working at Pellitiers Department Store, where she worked many years full and part-time. She also did ironings for the Oakland Laundromat, and sold real estate for the Sunflower Agency. She was a lifetime Topeka resident.
Coleen was a lifetime member of Pentecostal Grace Church, where she served as President of the Women's Fellowship, and various other positions, until it closing in 2003. She then attended Victory Tabernacle.
She married Wayne Eugene Crook on June 20, 1948. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2001.
She is survived by six sons: Rodger W. Crook (Kathy) of Wakarusa, Gary D. Crook (Betty) Burlingame, Douglas L. Crook (Kristi) of Arvada, CO, Dwight J. Crook, Michael G. Crook, and Paul A. Lynn (Karen), all of Topeka; two brothers: Richard Lutz (Lois) and Ronald Lutz of Topeka; two sisters: June Langley (Jeff) of Kansas City, and Jeanne Barnhart of Overland Park; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Frank Maurice Lutz on September 5, 1928; and two grandchildren: Brandon Ryan Crook on January 22, 1980, and Rose Kristine Crook on November 1 1998.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, November 7, 2014, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment in West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Coleen will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thursday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
