Gordon Lee Bledsoe
Gordon Lee Bledsoe, 76, Valley Falls, died Friday, May 15, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital of Topeka's Emergency Room. He was born January 30, 1939, at Ozawkie, the son of William Homer and Ella Pauline (Jones) Bledsoe.
Gordon graduated from Ozawkie High School in 1957. He worked for U.S.D. 501 (Topeka), Topeka Police Department Reserve, Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, Garnett Police Department, Roy Baker Quarry, and was Chief of Police at Valley Falls at the time of his retirement in 2004.
He was married to Eileen Rose Johnston on June 15, 1959, in Ozawkie.
Surviving are his wife, Eileen; sons: Todd Bledsoe (Sharon) of Leavenworth, and Rodney Bledsoe (Cathy) of Peculiar, Missouri; grandchildren: Seth Bledsoe (Sarah) of Independence, Missouri, Thea Clapp (Danny) of Peculiar, Missouri, Joshua Bledsoe (Trisha) of Independence, Oregon, Anna Steffen (Kyle) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Harrison "J.J." Ousley (Kelly) of Easton, Kansas, and Jeffrey Ousley (Laurie) of Ottumwa, Iowa; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a brother: Victor Bledsoe (Judy) of Denison, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Theresa Ann Bledsoe, in 1960; a son, Gary Dean Bledsoe, in 2008; and a granddaughter, Beverly Alaine Bledsoe, in 2010.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at Fairview Cemetery, Marion Road and 122nd Street, Oskaloosa.
Gordon will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Monday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
