Goldye Sutton

Goldye P. Sutton, 92, of Topeka, passed away Friday, Feb. 9, 2007 at Brewster Place Health Center.

She was born Jan. 5, 1915 at Ten Mile, MO, the daughter of Charles C. and Della M. Nisbeth Cason.

Goldye was member of Seaman Congregational United Church of Christ where she served on the music committee and was a choir member for 40 years. She was a devoted wife and mother and was very involved in her family's activities, including scouting, church and school. She was a volunteer at the Topeka Rescue Mission along with many other civic organizations, reflecting her love of Topeka.

For many years, she assisted her husband Richard in managing Hall's, Inc., a family owned business.

She married Richard L. Sutton on June 14, 1936 in Macon, MO. He preceded her in death in 2001, shortly after they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, David Lee Sutton.

Other survivors include a daughter, Paula Sigg (Steve) of Lexington, KY; a son, Richard "Tony" Sutton (Gail) of Cordova, TN; five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

Mrs. Sutton will lie in state after 3:00 pm, Monday, Feb.12 at Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW. Independence. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, Feb 13 at Rochester Cemetery.
