Glenn L. Moon of Topeka passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Stormont Vail Hospital. He was born July 29, 1939 in Topeka. Glenn was raised by his parents Glenn W. and Olive Moon in North Topeka. He spent some years of his life in both California and Texas before returning to Topeka. He worked most of his career in the grocery business, best known for the years he spent working at Mike’s IGA in Oakland. Glenn also ministered to elderly residents at Topeka area nursing homes. He enjoyed the Game Show Network and playing bingo. Two of his favorite pets were dogs, Chiquita and Roscoe.
He is survived by his children, Tammy Moon and Walter O’Handlen of Topeka, Tracy Shirley and husband John of Osage City, Lara Lin and husband Reuben in California and Rickey Moon and Peggy Lange of Lyndon; brother, Robert Moon of Bullhead City, AZ; sister, Patricia Johnson and husband William of Sydney, Ohio; special friend, Charlene Barton; 11 grandchildren which includes Lara Wemp and Lara’s three boys who Glenn helped raise. Glenn has a total of 26 great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loadia Moon; parents, Glenn and Olive; son, Patrick Moon; brothers, Victor Beltz and Clone James Moon; sister, Clara Humphrey; and twin infant daughters, Sherry and Carrie Moon.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Highland Park Baptist Church.
