OBITUARY: Glenn "Max" Chatham
Glenn "Max" Chatham, 86, Topeka, died Sun., Feb. 10, 2013, at Midland Hospice House. He was born March 30, 1926, at Harveyville, the son of Ralph M. "Mike" and Izora F. (Fouts) Chatham.
Max graduated from Harveyville Rural High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II and was a cook on a P.T. boat. He had lived in Harveyville most of his life, moving to Topeka in 1998.
He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Harveyville United Methodist Church.
Max was married to Beth Josephine Bruce on Nov. 25, 1947, at Alma. She preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 2003. He was also preceded in death by a brother: Richard Chatham; and a sister: Beth Falk.
Surviving are a son: Rick W. Chatham (Claudia) of Topeka; a daughter: Deborah J. Davis (Charles) of Topeka; a brother: Robert D. Chatham of Emporia; 3 grandchildren: Jeff Davis (Shanon) of Topeka, Lance Chatham (Terra) of Lehi, UT, and Ritchie Chatham (Julee) of Meriden; 3 step-grandchildren: Zachary Taylor, Abram Taylor, and Caleb Taylor; 8 great-grandchildren: Dalton and Dayci Davis, Aiden, Ashton, and Quinn Chatham, and Milo, Nolan, and Nova Chatham; and 6 step-great-grandchildren: Tristen, Leroy, Hunter, Kendal, Karoline, and Lucy Taylor.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Fri., Feb. 15, 2013, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka. Military Honors and graveside services will be at 3:00 PM, Fri., at Harveyville Cemetery. Max will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thurs., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.
