Glen Allen Edlin, 84, of Topeka, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, from complications of a recent illness. He was born on July 29, 1920, in Leavenworth County, KS, the son of James and Lena (Norris) Edlin; graduated from Jarbalo High School in 1937; married his high school sweetheart , Idabelle C. New, on Dec. 3, 1942. They were blessed to share 62 years of life together.
Glen was a Master Sergeant in the Army Air Corps in W.W.II serving as an airplane mechanic and line chief; after discharge was employed by Montgomery Ward before operating Edlin Grocery in Leavenworth. In 1963 he became the Sinclair agent in Lawrence, KS and moved to Topeka in 1972 to operate Edlin Oil Co. He was a member of Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene where he served as a board member and treasurer.
He is survived by his wife, Ida-belle, of Topeka; one daughter, Glenda Stevenson, Oklahoma City; and two sons Steve Edlin, Chicago, and his wife Miriam, and Jim Edlin, Olathe, KS and his wife Jo; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his brother, James N. Edlin, of Seattle, WA.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Mon-day Dec. 20 at Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene in Topeka. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Sunset Me-morial Garden Cemetery in Leavenworth. Mr. Edlin will lie in state after 12:00 noon Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004 where visitation will be 5- 7 p.m. Sunday Dec. 19 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel of Topeka.
