Gladys Willa Davis Ryan
Gladys Willa (Davis) Ryan, 105, of Topeka, died Monday, June 15, 2015, at Topeka Presbyterian Manor. She was born April 3, 1910, at Rossville, the daughter of Denny Morgan and Grace Lucinda (Alexander) Davis.
Gladys was raised on the family farm at Rossville; graduated Rossville High School and in 1933 from Christ Hospital School of Nursing. In Colby she was a visiting home nurse.
She enjoyed oil painting.
She married Gerald Ryan in 1936. They lived in Wyoming for 50 years where she was active in her husband's business. Gerald worked for a seismograph crew searching for oil and also did some uranium mining. He preceded her in death in December, 1991.
After the death of her husband she returned to Rossville to be near her sister and brothers. She moved to the Presbyterian Manor of Topeka on July 17, 2002.
Surviving are a sister: Eva L. Graves of Topeka; two nieces: Fran Schofield of Idaho Falls, ID and Janet Richards of Blackwell, OK; and a nephew: Fred Davis of Harrisonville, MO. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister: Minnie Hause; and two brothers: John Davis and Jim Davis.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Jellison Chapel, Presbyterian Manor. Interment will be in Rossville Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the chapel.
