OBITUARY: Gerald W. "Red" Taylor

Gerald W. "Red" Taylor, 81, Topeka, died Wed., Oct. 8, 2008. He was born Jan. 15, 1927, in Abilene, the son of Leslie G. and Rena E. (Rasher) Taylor. He graduated from Seaman High School and served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He worked at General Motors in California from 1953 to 1980. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances (Carter) Taylor, and a brother, Beryl Taylor. Surviving are a brother: John (Ruth) Taylor of Wichita; sisters: Mavis (Tom) Wyatt of Nebraska and Maxine Kennedy of Wichita; Carter brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10:00 AM, Sat., Oct. 11, 2008, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 Independence. Red will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Fri., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart of America Hospice, 3715 SW 29th, Topeka, KS 66614.
