OBITUARY: Gerald W. Monhollon
Gerald W. Monhollon, 61, of Topeka, died Tues., July 11, 2006, at Midland Hospice House. He was born July 2, 1945, at Junction City the son of Jerry R. and Vivian Aldine (Morris) Monhollon.
Gerald was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a custom painter. Gerald was a member of Country Acres Harvest Church and A.B.A.T.E., District 4. He helped organize fund raisers for Capper Foundation and Toys For Tots. He also helped organize events for the Capital City Motorcycle Show.
On April 12, 1969, Gerald was married to Ruth Hartman at Topeka. She survives of the home. Also surviving are 3 sons: Pat Monhollon of Topeka, Danny Monhollon and wife, Shara, of Topeka, and Vance McGahey of Rock Springs, WY; a sister: Sue Munn of Fort Mill, SC; a brother: Ronnie Monhollon of Rossville; 7 grandchildren: Danielle, Shelby, Gerald, Patrick, Kelsey, Bethany, and Emily; a great-grandson: Jacob Cooper; and 2 honorary grandchildren: Sara and Megan. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers, Donald and Maurice.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Sat., July 15, 2006, at Country Acres Harvest Church, 5030 N.E. Shaffer Road. A U.S. Army Detail will conduct military honors at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery & Mausoleum. Gerald will lie in state after 3:00 p.m., Fri., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
