Gerald "Jerry" "Goat" McCall of Topeka, passed away at the age of 79 on Saturday, January 2, 2022 at the VA Hospital in Kansas City.

Jerry was born on July 25, 1942 in Brevard, North Carolina, the son of Jessie T. and Ola Mae (West) McCall.

He graduated from Brevard High School in 1961.  He joined the US Air Force in 1962 and was stationed at Forbes Field in Topeka, Kansas.  While stationed in Topeka he met his "lovely bride," Frances Evon Jones, on a blind date.  They were married in Topeka on June 15, 1965.

Jerry and Frances worked at Sunflower Bowl for several years where they earned the nicknames "Goat" and "Mother Hubbard."  They were both accomplished bowlers throughout their lives, winning many awards and trophies including two perfect 300 games for Jerry.

Jerry also worked as a courier for Indian Delivery, a driver for the State of Kansas and retired after working for over 20 years at the VA Hospital in Topeka as a housekeeper.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances Evon; a daughter, Joy Nadine (Robert) Ward of Topeka; a son, John T. (Angela) of Olathe; and two sisters, Mary Jean Baughn of Brevard, NC and Barbara Ann Johnson of Lehigh, Florida; seven grandchildren, Jerrica, Kelsie, Alyssa, Zachary, Connor, Chance and Tyler, and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl David McCall and a sister, Brenda Lee Flowers.

Memorial services will be Sunday, January 9, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka, Kansas.  Services will be livestreamed at the Davidson Funeral Home & Cremation Services Facebook page.

Memorial contributions may be made to Children's Mercy Hospital or the American Cancer Society and left in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.
