Gerald Lee Haney

September 25, 1925 — January 3, 2022

Reverend Gerald L. Haney, age 96, of Topeka, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022 at Oakley Place in Topeka.  Gerald was born September 25, 1925 in Kansas City, KS the son of Russell Simpson Haney and Martha Ann Williams Haney.  He attended high school at Turner High School in Kansas City and left to serve in the United States Coast Guard in 1943.  He returned to Turner High School to graduate in 1946 and then received his bachelor’s degree from Ottawa University in 1950 and his Masters of Science degree from Emporia State University in 1955.  He received his Masters of Divinity from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Kansas in 1978.  He married Betty Marie Morse July 20, 1947 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.  She preceded him in death December 5, 2004.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeryn Marie Serrano.

He is survived by two sons, Michael (Charlene) Haney of Dodd City, Texas and Marc (Anny) Haney of Topeka; a son-in-law, Ralph Serrano; a brother, Virgil Haney of Houston, TX; nine grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. with a visitation one hour before services, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.  Interment will be at the Foster Cemetery in Topeka.  Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse.   davidsonfuneral.com
